Why we put project boards inside an HR platform

18 August 2026 · The Staffvelo team

Every project tool eventually reinvents a people directory. Every HR tool eventually gets asked "what is this person actually working on?" We decided to stop pretending these are different questions.

What changes when the board knows the org chart

Assign a card to someone and their manager can see it. Filter a board by a person and you see their week. Put someone on leave and it's obvious their cards need a new owner. None of that needs an integration when it's one database.

Roles, not chaos

Boards have Viewers, Editors and an Owner. Viewers can add cards and move them — because the person who noticed the problem should be able to write it down — but only edit their own. Editors run the board. Owners manage the team and can delete it, with a confirmation.

Small things that matter

@-mention someone and they get a proper notification, not a red dot they'll never see. React with an emoji instead of a "+1" comment. Click a notification and land on the exact card. It's the polish that decides whether a team keeps using a board or drifts back to chat.
